ABOUT 50 individuals from the various youth wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) from across the country last weekend converged in the Ashanti regional capital, Kumasi for a day’s capacity building workshop.
The theme for the day’s workshop, sponsored by the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) in collaboration with the Netherlands-based Institute for Multiparty democracy and intended to groom the youth to respond to challenges the party is likely to encounter is: “NDC’s victory in Election 2008-the role of the youth.”
Mr. Kwamena Ahwoi, a senior lecturer of GIMPA took participants through Social Democratic philosophy of the party based on the party’s manifesto of social democratic agenda.
The economic components, gender equity as well as geographical and generational equity were factored into the philosophy for the appreciation of the participants.
According to Mr. Ahwoi, the NDC has decided to go on the offensive and resort to aggressive propaganda to counter the misinformation of the government.
Mr. Fiifi Kwetey, National Propaganda secretary lectured on research and Information transfer which strategies to deal with misinformation.
Mr. S. P Adamu, policy analyst of IEA and former Minister in the previous regime, expressed appreciation to the IEA for its contribution to growth of democracy in Ghana.
He hoped a level playing field would by their contribution, provided to nurture political activities.
Meanwhile, the Ashanti regional chairman of the NDC, Mr. Daniel Ohene-Agyekum has announced that the NDC would soon launch a new manifesto for the December 2008 elections.
According to him a Committee is working on the document, which would include new ideas, objectives and projects based on demands of society.
