THE PRESIDENT OF GHANA, His Excellency Mr. John Agyekum Kufuor, says the flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has been ordained by God to rule the country.
Addressing a huge rally in Kumasi, President Kufuor said Nana Akufo Addo had been chosen, by God, to complete the journey of moving the country towards an economic liberation, which he had initiated.
“God is with NPP, because God loves people who are honest and trustworthy to rule his people.”
According to President Kufuor, Ghanaians must count themselves lucky to have someone of the calibre of Nana Addo, who has a remarkable political experience, as their next leader.
He stated the NPP flagbearer was endowed with a lot of capabilities, a feat, according to him, he demonstrated during his time in office as the Minister for Justice and Attorney General, and subsequently as Foreign Minister.
“Akufo Addo has acquitted himself excellently as a true leader, and one who has the capability to lead a country, and I have absolutely no doubt that he would be able to deliver,” he remarked.
Paying more tribute to the party’s flagbearer and his running mate, President Kufuor remarked that the pair was just what the country needed to move its development agenda forward.
President Kufuor, whose speech was continuously interrupted by the ecstatic supporters, who chanted his name and referred to him as the “father of the nation,” therefore predicted that the ruling party would record an impressive win, with a margin, which would bigger than the figures he obtained in the two previous elections.
He said the NPP government, under his leadership, had paved the way for a smooth economic take-off, which required that no party other than the NPP be allowed to continue with the administration of this country, to ensure that our economic objectives were achieved.
“The NPP government, within the last eight years of its rule, has brought hope, confidence and enthusiasm to a lot of Ghanaians, and I want to urge all well-meaning Ghanaians to rally behind the party’s flagbearer, Akufo Addo, and his running mate, Dr. Bawumia, to make sure they achieve a resounding victory on December 7.”
President Kufuor stressed that the December 7 elections was about the future of the youth, and therefore called on them to come out in their numbers, to vote massively for the NPP.
The Chief Executive of the State, however, sounded a word of caution to the doommongers, who had planned to cause trouble during the elections, saying “we shall not sit down unconcerned, and allow anybody to tamper with the peace and tranquillity the country is enjoying.”
He stated that the security agencies had their ears to the ground, and would deal drastically with any individual or group, who would attempt to cause mayhem.
The National Chairman of the party, Mr. Peter Mac Manu, stated that the last hurdle of the campaign needed a lot of energy, and called on the supporters of the party to eschew any form of complacency, adding that ‘the NDC is embarking on desperate moves to win power, and we must stand up and fight them.”
